Gameplay Mechanics

Campaign Structure

Unlike Mercenaries, which had a freeform campaign with a lot of branching paths, MechWarrior 5: Clans preferred a more official and tight-knit chapter based campaign. After you finish the prologue the player gets to know more about the training course and then the entire team of five MechWarriors. The campaign divides into linear sections, keeping players focused on the overall storyline while avoiding distractions from optional objectives.

Missions and Objectives

In the game they are missions and they can be one or several objectives or even a campaign of several missions. Long duration along with differing objectives are thus welcome when compared with longer missions. For example, some will involve the movement within enemy territories spying out vulnerable areas or evading detection and others will entail defending positions against hordes of the foe. Missions, therefore, include goals that can be accomplished in more than one way, making choices possible.

The Mech Lab and Customization

Equipping Your Mechs

Mech Lab is where this all starts and gets down to the essence. Most of the time the mechs can be upgraded, modified to suit your preferred play style and strategy. Among the choices availabRe are a great number of them—parts of vehicles, weapons and armors, and many other things. For someone who likes to get real deep into customization, this aspect of the game pleasant, yet at the same time can be kind of daunting.

Understanding the Complexity

Even for the first-time visitors, the Mech Lab can be a tough nut to crack. The most significant pieces of advice I can give you, as they apply to any game: be patient, and learn how to modify your mechs down to the last bolt. First they present the game with easy load-ups, to make sure a player adapts to the gameplay. Once you know how the customization works, there are almost no bounds and you can build almost anything. Whether it is heat sinks to balance, armour to upgrade or weight to control the Mech Lab extends the dimension of the game.

Squad Management

Combat in MechWarrior 5: Clans is passionate, fast moving and tactical. However, unlike most other shooters, here you control a titans in which, unlike just running around, strategy is preferred. Up to 5 mechs in your squad can be either AI or co-op partners. This is because commanding your AI partners is fairly straightforward which definitely helps to coordinate attacks effectively.

Controlling Your Allies

In battles, issuing commands has been made easier through a new setup as you can command your allies even when you are looking at the overall map of the battle. For this, you can provide basic commands like attack this enemy, defend this location or report on the enemy movement and it makes it turn based. If you’re someone who enjoys tactical gameplay, MechWarrior 5: Clans will keep you engaged.

Visuals and Presentation

Graphics Improvements

Graphically MechWarrior 5: Clans is a leap forward from MechWarrior 4. The environments are more detailed, and the mechs look great; add to that the very impressive look of the cut scenes. Gameplay: although the plot of the film is very hackneyed, the game succeeds in introducing player to the grim and realistic environment of the MechWarrior.

Issues with Weapon Effects and Sound Design

But there are disappointments in weapon effects and in sounds. Characters and even equipment, such as the once mighty Gauss cannons that today seem slightly less destructive in their impact, are less important. Also, more bass is definitely needed throughout the entire film to make the sound element enhance the experience.

Performance and Technical Challenges

Stuttering Problems

One of the biggest issues that MechWarrior 5: The challenge that Clans is experiencing now on its game is the stuttering issue. In any case the game is not free from the judder which is visible during the most intense video action or when an objective is changed. If one is very much particular about technical performance, this can be a big minus point.

Developer’s Responsibility

It is now on the developers to fix these before they get out of hand soon. What really doesn’t go amiss is that even though the stuttering does not completely destroy the smooth flow of the entire performance or presentation, it hits what would have been a spotless presentation. Hopefully there will be the performance improvements in the next updates.

Is MechWarrior 5: Clans Worth It?

MechWarrior 5: Clans is an attractive and deserving successor of Mercenaries. The overall idea is linear but it is diverse, the combat is strategic and despite few drawbacks the visuals are altogether improved in comparison to its predecessors. However, technicalities particularly the stutters slow down the process somewhat. For green hires though, the Mech Lab may seem a tad complex but once grasped, it is one of the prima mobiles of the game.

If you’re an old fan of the series, MechWarrior 5: Their game called Clans is absolutely worth a try. I’d recommend other people maybe wait for two or three updates before the edge gets polished and shiny and then come on board.

Conclusion

To sum up, MechWarrior 5: Clans offers intense and fun mech fight with opportunities for a lot of action and strategy adjustments from the original game. As long as you are a fan of huge scale battles and operation of large pieces of equipment, interesting plot line and not paying much attention to the technical sides of the game then this game is for you. If you love the simple concept of controlling a squadron of enormous robots, then there is no other better way to feel such kind of sensation.
